Currently we are not accepting applications for full time personnel.

However The Waterloo Fire Department is always accepting applications for volunteer firefighters and paid-on-call emergency medical technicians.

When you become a member you'll be issued your own equipment.  All training you attend is paid for by the department as well as mileage reimbursement.

To be a firefighter you must live within five miles of the City of Waterloo and within the Waterloo Fire Department's response area.

We have no residency requirements for emergency medical technicians, however to be on call you must be in the City of Waterloo.

With a full kitchen, sleeping quarters, showers, exercise facilities, and ready room equipped with cable, a big-screen TV, and a internet ready computer (were also wifi), we have a great place for you to stay while you're on call.

If you would like to join, please contact the fire department or stop in at City Hall on
N. Monroe Street for an application.  If you're unsure about wanting to join the fire department, please feel free to stop in at the fire station and meet with one of our members or come for a training on the 2nd and 3rd Monday's of every month.
